A series of USATF-sanctioned, officially timed 5000-meter races on the East River track in New York City.
October 19th, 2019, from 9am to noon.
Heats will start at 9am sharp, and run fastest to slowest. Heats will be determined by projected finish times, not gender. We will have up to four heats of 20-25 runners in each heat.
Prize money will be given to the top 3 men and women in the open field, and the top 3 masters men and women. Purse will be determined by how many people register; the larger the field, the bigger the purse.
The Kipchoge/Kosgei Challenge: A special bonus prize will be awarded to anyone who goes through the first 1600m in 4:34 or faster, in honor of Eliud Kipchoge’s sub-2-hour average marathon pace in Vienna, or for the women in the field only, 5:11 in honor of Brigid Kosgei’s world record time at the Chicago Marathon the next day. To qualify a runner must finish the race, not necessarily at 4:34 or 5:11 pace but jogging it in for the last 3400 doesn’t count.
